Readers (sometimes known as lectors) proclaim the Word of God from the ambo at Mass. They are fully initiated (baptized and confirmed) and active Catholics, and have a special love and reverence for the holy scriptures. They strive to live the Word of God in their daily lives. They possess a good speaking voice, and are able to proclaim the readings before the assembly with clarity and authenticity. And they are willing to spend the time preparing and training for this ministry.
