Volunteer Opportunities

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish is a large campus, with a Kindergarten-8th grade school, a parish office building, a pastoral center building, a parish garden, lots of trees and a busy schedule. The site was originally built to be the school in service of St. James parish in downtown Vancouver, but was deemed its own parish just a couple of years after being built. This means that the school’s original large chapel was converted into the church for the new parish, and also means that the church is in the school. This necessitates a great deal of coordination between the parish and the school for use of space when school is in session, in order to maintain a high level of security for the children during school hours.

The parish has a full-time priest and two permanent deacons, who are involved in the liturgy and in the school. The parish has a regular schedule of Masses, devotions, and confession times (please see the home page for times). The parish offers faith formation for children and those looking to covert to the Catholic Faith. It also has youth groups and adult bible study groups.

If you have questions about any of these things, please feel free to give the front office a call during business hours, or review the other sections of this website. Welcome, we are glad you are here!
